At the Four Seasons Hotel in Geneva, Jacob & Co. revealed the most expensive watch of the entire Geneva Watch Week, with a staggering price tag of $20 million. Dubbed the “Billionaire Timeless Treasure,” the watch took three and a half years to create and features 216.89 carats of yellow diamonds, carefully selected for their uniform color and perfect quality consistency.
To achieve the unique mosaic design, 425 Asscher-cut diamonds were laid out individually in a pattern that highlighted their fancy yellow and fancy intense yellow color, enhanced by tsavorite accents. The Billionaire skeleton tourbillon movement is adorned with an additional 57 yellow baguette-cut diamonds.
According to CEO Benjamin Arabov, the process of finding the perfect gems was a worldwide treasure hunt, with each stone scrutinized at every stage of the process, from rough to cut to setting. The meticulous work of gemsetters happened entirely in Geneva, combining high jewelry expertise with high watchmaking skills.
Yellow diamonds are incredibly rare, occurring at a rate of 10,000 to 1 compared to white diamonds, making the Billionaire Timeless Treasure a unique achievement in the history of high jewelry watchmaking. Each of the 216.89 carats was meticulously selected, and no stone was rejected due to its price, only its color and clarity. The Asscher-cutting process added another layer of complexity, requiring much larger roughs than the typical brilliant cut.
The Billionaire Timeless Treasure represents a triumph of skill, quality, and unyielding determination to achieve what was once considered impossible. It is a one-of-a-kind piece that outshines every other high jewelry timepiece in terms of opulence, exclusivity, and diamond quality.
